About UNF SIFE

Regional Competition

The competition process in the United States begins with a series of Regional Competitions. Every active SIFE team has the opportunity to participate in one of these events, where they will compete against one another to determine which of them achieved the most impact improving the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. Within each regional, teams are divided into separate leagues, where they compete against each other by making a live presentation to a group of executives serving as judges. Teams that are named Regional Champions advance to the SIFE USA National Exposition. (www.sife.org)

National Competition

The competitive process at Nationals begins with the teams being divided among twenty separate opening round competition leagues. From the opening round, one finalist from each league moves forward to one of four semi-final round leagues, with one team from each of these leagues then qualifying to compete in the Final Round of Competition where they will present to a prestigious panel of top U.S. business leaders. One of these teams will then be chosen as the SIFE USA National Champion team and earn the privilege of representing the United States at the SIFE World Cup. (www.sife.org)

World Cup Competition

Once a year, the National Champion SIFE teams from around world meet at the SIFE World Cup where they present the results of their community outreach projects to a prestigious group of international business leaders. Competing teams are divided among eight opening round leagues, each with approximately five teams. From the opening round of competition, two teams from each league advance to the semi-final round with four teams winning a spot in the final round of competition. Eventually one team will be declared the best and win the coveted title of SIFE World Cup Champion.
The SIFE World Cup is a showcase of the impact that SIFE teams are achieving around the world and brings together an international network of student, academic and business leaders. In addition to the competition, events such as the culture fair provide an exhibit of the rich diversity of cultures represented within SIFE. Multiple receptions, lunches and dinners, along with special events such as the Top-to-Top and Top-to-Future-Top Forums further enhance the opportunities for participants. (www.sife.org)

Career Fair

SIFE students know how to take initiative, plan and execute complicated projects, communicate and work as part of a team. As a result, many top companies from around the world have identified SIFE students as their leading source of effective, responsible talent. One of

the primary ways these companies connect with SIFE students is through the career fairs at the Regionals and Expo. These events provide companies with the exclusive opportunity to meet, interview and hire SIFE students for internship and full time jobs. Each Regional competition features its own career fair. The career fair for the SIFE USA National Exposition is the largest of the all the career fairs and will feature more than fifty companies that will be recruiting for an entire day and half.

Presentation Team

UNF SIFE will pick five or six members to stand in front of a group of judges and give a 24 minute presentation that focuses on the amount of impact our team made throughout the year. Afterwards, the presenters will have a five minute question and answer session from the judges based on the presentation. The presenters chosen will work with the script team to perfect their lines. To be a part of the presentation team, you will tryout early in 2011 in front of a small group of alumni and former presenters. It is essential for you to be involved in multiple projects throughout the year to be a part of the presentation team.

 Visual Team

The visual team creates the annual report, designs the logos of the various projects (if needed), films all of the projects, takes pictures of everything UNF SIFE related, and puts together the visual presentation based on the the aforementioned duties. The annual report shows the projects that our team has completed throughout the year. The judges read the annual report while our team sets up our projector and other equipment during the first 7 minutes before the presentation. The visual presentation is coordinated with the script and runs for the full 24 minutes behind the presenters. No experience is necessary to be on the visual team, each member will be taught how to use all of the programs we use in order to make a great presentation.

Script Team

The script team has two different groups, the first group is made up of members not involved in the visual or presentation teams, their sole focus being to write the script. The second group is made up of the presentation team and the project leaders (see below). Both teams work together in order to get an accurate reading of the lines from the presenters, and so they can have a say in what they are presenting. The project leaders are involved in order to have the most accurate information on their various projects.

Project Leaders

A project leader is a UNF SIFE member who is in charge of making sure their project runs smooth and effectively. They will be in charge of a group helping to complete the project.
